The regular Captain for South Africa AB de Villiers is missing due to the elbow injury. Faf du Plessis has been announced the captain of the team. He will be leading South Africa for the first time as a regular captain. Faf is the third captain for South Africa in this year. Hasim Amla resigned from captaincy in January, then AB took over now Faf. However, after stepping down from the captaincy, Amla has been able to focus on his batting more and looked very confident. And eventually, that has brought good to the team as well.

Apart from De Villiers, the Proteas gonna miss Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel also. Both of these pacers are suffering from an injury. Although that hasn’t caused any problem to the team’s performance in Australia. Kagiso Rabada, Vernon Philander, and Kyle Abbott didn’t let miss the regular pacers with their superb performance. They are expected to continue the good work with the ball in this series as well.

While the main concern for the host may be the form of Hasim Amla. One of the finest batters of his era, Amla is going through a certain bad-patch. This right-hander could not manage to score a fifty in six innings he played against Australia. So, it is for sure that he is due to a big score to get in form.

Angelo Mathews and Dinesh Chandimal are back in the Sri Lankan side. Coming from beating Australia in the home, the lions would be looking to stamp their authority in the series by winning the first match in Port Elizabeth.
