Gujarat Lions captain captain Suresh Raina decided to bowl first after winning toss. This decision didn’t work well because of a 122-runs opening partnership between Gayle and Kohli smashed Gujarat bowling in a merciless manner.
Chris Gayle needed just three runs to become the first batsman to score 10,000 T20 runs. He not only achieved this milestone but also scored a blasting 77 runs in just 38 balls. His innings had 5 fours and 7 sixes. It was a treat to watch him bat in his traditional aggressive manner.
Virat Kohli, his opening partner, also played his part and both gave a 122-runs opening stand to the team. He scored 64 runs off 50 balls with the help of 7 fours and 1 six.
These were the only two wickets fell for RCB today. After the departure of these two batsmen, Travis Head and Kedar Jadhav maintained the momentum and Royal Challengers Bangalore scored massive 2013 runs in 20 overs.
Both Travis and Jadhav played 16 balls each and scored 30 and 38 runs respectively. Ravindra Jadeja was the most expensive bowler for Gujarat who gave away 57 runs in 4 overs with the economy rate of 14.25.
Dwayne Smith also tried his luck as a bowler but his only over cost his team 17 runs after which he was removed from the bowling list.
