Pakistan vs West Indies 1st ODI Highlights Today 7 April 2017
Watch PAK vs WI 1st ODI highlights today on 7-4-2017. Below are the cricket highlights of the first One Day International played between West Indies and Pakistan at Providence. Pakistan looks confident after comfortably winning T20 series, although they lost one of the four matches. Both teams will play three ODIs which have become important because of a possible opportunity to qualify for the upcoming World Cup. At the moment Pakistan and West Indies stand at eighth and ninth slots respectively of the ICC ranking for ODI cricket.
International Cricket Council’s new initiative says that only ten teams will be eligible to take part in the World Cup and the last two of these will have to fight their way through playing qualifying round. So every team is striving to stay in the first eight positions to play the Word Cup directly.
Toss: West Indies won the toss and decided to bowl.
If West Indies wins all the three ODIs, they will swap eighth place with Pakistan who need to win at least 2 games to stay safe at current slot. The cut-off date set by ICC is September 30 2017. So nearly eight months are left for these two and some others to grab their place in top eight teams.
Pitch and conditions: Not so many matches are played at Providence Stadium in Guyana. It was built ahead of the 2007 World Cup and since then it is known for creating troubles for the batsmen. The ball keeps low and doesn’t come on to the bat which results in low scoring matches. This is why today spin bowling is likely to become important for both the teams.
Rain is expected in the early part of the day, but the sky should clear up by the evening.
It was almost an impossible win from West Indies. They never let the game slip out of their hands.
