Watch New Zealand vs South Africa cricket highlights. NZ vs SA 2nd Test day 2 highlights today on 17-3-2017. S Africa vs N Zealand highlights. After Henry Nicholls’ maiden Test century, there was every chance that New Zealand would be able to pile up good total in first innings but it didn’t happen and the whole team could score just 268 runs. This total was very low as compared to what was expected of them. It was a thrilling drama that happened at Basin Reserve yesterday. South African spinners got 6 wickets, including JP Duminy’s career-best 4 for 47. This elusive spin rendered Kiwis batsmen helpless and the wickets kept falling at regular intervals.

When South Africa came to play, only 7 overs were remaining and the second episode of the drama began. Tim Southee and Colin de Grandhomme got one wicket each during this tense seven-overs span. They removed both the openers, Cook and Elgar who could score only 3 and 9 runs respectively. If there were ten more overs, South Africa was in huge trouble.

Today’s proceedings will give us some picture as to where this Test is heading. The way wicket is behaving, it seems quite improbable that it may prolong to five days. There is possibility that within next two days, we get result of the 2nd Test.

From 21 for 3 – after early damage done by Morne Morkel and Kagiso Rabada – New Zealand’s total represented a good recovery particularly considering the inexperience of the top order. That said, when Nicholls and BJ Watling put on 116 for the sixth wicket, they will have expected a few more than they ended up with from 217 for 5. The fact that they slipped against the fill-in offspin of Duminy, who claimed three wickets in consecutive overs, will have been a little difficult to stomach.
