India vs Australia 2nd Test Day 2 Highlights Today 5 March 2017

Watch latest cricket highlights. Australia vs India highlights today. IND vs AUS 2nd Test day 2 highlights. Yesterday almost the same story was repeated that we watched in the first Test. Nathan Lyon’s devastating bowling restricted Indian batsmen to a small first-innings total of 189 runs. He got 8 wickets for 50 runs which was the best ever haul by a visiting bowler in India. His bowling was definitely impressive but there was a sense of panic in Indian batting too that caused this fiasco. From statistical point of view, Lyon’s figures are the second-best for an Australia spinner and sixth-best by any bowler for his country.

Australia does have capacity to adapt themselves to unfavorable conditions. For so many months, India had been thrashing and trampling world’s best teams on Indian soil. No one was able to adjust to the conditions so quickly as Australia did. This is the first time after many months that India have faced a defeat in a Test and they started the second Test in a very poor manner. All credit goes to Australia for such turn of fate.

Many Indian batsmen simply gave away their wickets due to poor shot selection. They would have been in a far worse shape if KL Rahul had not resisted and scored 90 runs. He was the only batsman who kept his cool and played according to the situation. It took him 205 balls to complete 90 runs which is the way a batsmen should play in such difficult conditions.

It was a typical Indian pitch in Bengaluru, having cracks that were not too wide or narrow. However they will widen up with the passage of time which means Lyon is likely to do more damage when India returns to play the second innings. At the same time, Rahul’s innings is a proof that there was nothing unusual in the pitch. Indian batsmen are more to blame for their poor performance than Australian spin bowling.
