England vs South Africa 2nd T20 Highlights Today 23 June 2017

Watch cricket highlights of the 2nd T20 played between South Africa and England on 23-6-2017 at Taunton. ENG vs SA highlights. England crushed South Africa in the first T20 match and won it in a style. They had to chase 143 runs which England got in 14.3 overs with just one wicket fallen. Their authoritarian style outclassed their rivals in all the departments. Today South Africa have another challenge to face and a new bridge to cross.

Toss: England have won the toss and elected to field first.

South African team is still searching for the right frequency to recover from a series of defeats. They lost to both Pakistan and India in Champions Trophy and now a humiliating defeat at the hands of England in previous game. If we look at their performance in 1st T20, they were 32 for 3 at one stage. But then AB de Villiers and Farhaan Behardien added 110 precious runs to the team’s total. However during this century stand, both the batsmen spent 95 balls which kept the final total very low.

Pitch and conditions: The weather has retreated from the white heat of the past few days, but a pleasantly cloudy afternoon is in prospect. Given Taunton’s reputation for limited-overs batting tracks, if England bat first, it’s hard to see them doing anything other than planting the front foot, and aiming for the Quantocks.

Match Report

It was a true thriller between two powerful teams and it maintained suspense till the last breathe. England won the toss and elected to bowl. They were hoping to do whatever happened in previous game but this time they were facing a different team. South African batsmen successfully scored 174 runs in 20 overs. They lost 8 wickets in the process and they secured healthy run-rate of 8.70 runs per over. Opener Smuts provided a good start to the team. He made 45 off 35 balls. AB de Villiers came with full conviction and played an aggressive innings. He scored 46 runs in just 20 balls. Behardien was the next highest scorer with 32 off 21 balls.

England lost their first wicket quite early but then came Bairstow who build a partnership of 110 runs. At this point, England were on a winning track. Roy’s 67 runs from 45 balls were the highlights of England innings. Bairstow scored 47 off 37 and when he left the crease, England were 125 in 13.4 overs. However from here onward, their chase lost its track and continuous fall of wickets obstructed their journey to victory. In the end, they scored 171 runs and lost the match by 3 runs.
