England vs South Africa 1st Test Day 3 Highlights Today 8 July 2017

Watch ENG vs SA highlights today on 8-7-2017. South Africa vs England cricket highlights of the day 3 of 1st Test. Yesterday England gained upper hand by first scoring a healthy total of 458 runs and then doing a disciplined bowling which kept pressure on South African batsmen. Moeen Ali’s 87 and Broad’s unbeaten 57 were a great display of late order batting. These two all-rounders ensured that England gained enough runs to put pressure on opposition’s batting line-up.

In reply to England’s 458, South African batting failed to show competitive spirit. Despite Elgar’s 54, Bavuma and TB de Bruyn’s 48, they still lag behind with top five batsmen preyed upon by English bowlers. Bavuma is still not out at 48 while Rabada stands on the other side with just 9 runs. South Africa trail by 244 runs with 5 wickets remaining in the 1st innings. It seems a Herculean Task to stay close to England’s total in the first innings.

At one time, South Africans were 104 for 4 and were in a very perilous position. At this point Bavuma and Theunis de Bruyn came to bat and added very precious 99 runs to the total. This fifth-wicket partnership was broken by James Anderson.

After a frantic morning session in which England lost their last five wickets while adding 101 to their overnight total – Broad and Moeen scoring 83 of them – the pace slackened in the heat of the afternoon. Elgar followed his England counterpart in leading the way with the bat but Broad and Moeen winkled out a wicket apiece during the middle session.
