Toss: Rising Pune Supergiant won the toss and chose to field.

Smith, Rahane said, was out with a bad stomach. Rising Pune were also without Manoj Tiwary, who lost his father on Tuesday morning. Faf du Plessis and Rahul Tripathi, the Maharashtra batsman, replaced them. There were two other changes in their XI, with the legspinner Adam Zampa coming in for the seam-bowling allrounder Daniel Christian, and Deepak Chahar replacing his brother Rahul Chahar to maintain the seam-legspin balance.

Daredevils made only one change to their previous XI, replacing Carlos Brathwaite with Corey Anderson in an allrounder-for-allrounder swap.

Rising Pune Supergiant: 1 Ajinkya Rahane (capt), 2 Mayank Agarwal, 3 Faf du Plessis, 4 Ben Stokes, 5 MS Dhoni (wk), 6 Rahul Tripathi, 7 Rajat Bhatia, 8 Adam Zampa, 9 Imran Tahir, 10 Deepak Chahar, 11 Ashok Dinda

Delhi Daredevils: 1 Aditya Tare, 2 Sam Billings, 3 Karun Nair, 4 Sanju Samson, 5 Rishabh Pant (wk), 6 Corey Anderson, 7 Chris Morris, 8 Pat Cummins, 9 Amit Mishra, 10 Shahbaz Nadeem, 11 Zaheer Khan (capt)

A maiden T20 hundred from Sanju Samson and a blistering unbeaten 38, off just nine balls, from Chris Morris, led Delhi Daredevils to their first 200-plus total since April 2012. It was more than enough to give them their first win of the season, as Rising Pune Supergiants – who were without Steven Smith, their regular captain and best batsman – crumbled in the face of a steadily mounting asking rate, folding for 108 in 16.1 overs.
