Watch Bangladesh vs New Zealand cricket highlights. Latest highlights of the 3rd day of 1st Test played between New Zealand and Bangladesh on January 14, 2017. BAN vs NZ highlights. Yesterday was a historic day for Bangladesh cricket when many new records were set and after a very log time, this Asian team looked completely confident. Most important of all is that they can hope for the elusive win that they never achieved against New Zealand. All credit for such a brilliant performance goes to Shakib Al Hasan, who scored his maiden double century and Mushfiqur Rahim for his 159-runs knock.
By the time stumps were called on day 2, Bangladesh had already amassed 542 for 7. So they have a very good chance of winning this game if their bowlers and fielders do their job with dedication.
Shakib scored 217 runs which is the highest score for Bangladesh. He faced 276 balls and got his record score with the help of 31 fours. He played with patience which is why there was no six in his innings.
Mushfiqur Rahim’s 159 runs came off 260 balls and it included 23 fours and 1 six. Both these batsmen put together 349 runs which is the record highest partnership for Bangladesh in Tests. Previous record of 312 runs was scored by Tamim Iqbal and Imrul Kayes against Pakistan almost two years ago.
Shakib also crossed another milestone, namely that of 3000 runs. When he was ultimately given out, he was on 3146 to become Bangladesh’s second-most prolific batsman behind Tamim, who moved to 3405 with his 56 on the first day.
Today Bangladesh will start again with 542 runs and will try to cross 600-runs threshold. They will have to make a plan to get New Zealand out as quickly as possible. It will be a difficult challenge for Kiwis to bat against such a huge total posted by the visitors.
